HOW THE FOOD PACKAGE WORKS
The food package is an optional add-on for our self-guided kayak tours. It includes all meals and plenty of snacks for the entire duration of your trip, so you do not need to plan or shop for a single thing. The food package is available in 3-day, 4-day, and 5-day versions, and you can choose between a regular or vegetarian menu.
The food is organised so that you have fresh ingredients for the first couple of days. We include a cooler bag to keep everything fresh. For the remaining days, the meals are based on dry and long-lasting provisions that are easy to prepare on your camping stove.
Everything comes with recipe cards, so you know exactly what to cook and how. A sea kayak can carry far more than a hiking backpack, so the portions are generous and the food is good. Think of it as proper meals in the wild, not just survival rations.
If you book a tour of five days or more, you can opt for a 5-day food package and we will make sure your route passes by an island store where you can replenish your supplies towards the middle or end of your trip.
WHAT IS IN THE FOOD PACKAGE
The menu varies from season to season, but here are some examples of what a typical food package includes.
Breakfast
Start the day well
• Oat porridge with coconut flakes, raisins, oat milk, and lingonberry jam.
• Sandwiches with butter, cheese, bell pepper, and cucumber.
• Coffee, tea, and orange juice.
A good breakfast sets the tone for the day. Take your time, enjoy the morning, and watch the archipelago wake up.
Lunch
Fuel for the water
• Outdoor adventure food: freeze-dried meals that you mix with hot water and let sit
for a few minutes (1 to 2 lunches).
• Sandwiches that you prepare in the morning with fresh ingredients (1 to 2 lunches).
Lunch is designed to be quick and easy so you can eat on an island and get back on the water.
Dinner
Cook on the rocks
• Proper dinners that you cook on the camping stove.
• The menu varies by season but can include
dishes such as Swedish meatballs with potato mash, cream sauce, and lingonberry jam.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT FOOD ON YOUR KAYAK TOUR
-
Yes. We can cater for vegan, gluten intolerance, and lactose intolerance. Please note that we can accommodate gluten intolerance but unfortunately not coeliac disease (gluten allergy), as we cannot guarantee a fully gluten-free preparation environment in the field. Let us know your dietary needs when you book, or reach out to us beforehand and we will make sure your food package is right for you.

The food package is an optional add-on for our self-guided kayak tours. You can add it when you book. On our guided 3-day kayak and wild camp tour, all meals are included as standard and your guide cooks for the group.

The food package is organised so that fresh ingredients are used during the first couple of days. We include a cooler bag to keep everything at the right temperature. For the remaining days, meals are based on dry and long-lasting provisions, such as freeze-dried adventure food and pantry staples, that are easy to store and prepare.
-
Absolutely. If you prefer to shop for your own food, you are welcome to do so. A sea kayak can carry a surprising amount, so you can bring whatever you like. We recommend stocking up in Stockholm before you arrive at the kayak centre, as there are limited shopping options near our base at Stavsnäs.
-
Yes. Fresh drinking water for the duration of your trip is included on all our tours, regardless of whether you add the food package. We provide 5-litre water containers at the kayak centre before you set out. We recommend bringing 2.5 to 3 litres per person per day. For longer tours, our guides will mark refill points on your map.
-
No. All cooking equipment is included on every tour: a camping stove with fuel, cooking utensils, cutting board, knife, spatula, salt, pepper, oil, eating utensils, and a washing-up kit. You do not need to bring anything.
-
Coffee and tea are included in the food package for every morning of your trip. Your introduction session also begins with a Swedish fika (coffee or tea and a treat) at the kayak centre before you set out.

Some of the larger islands, such as Sandhamn and Möja, have small shops, restaurants, and cafés. However, most of the islands in the outer archipelago have no services at all. If you are not adding the food package, we recommend being fully self-sufficient with food and water from the start.
